Yes, I'm still alive!!  Things have been a bit loony around here... to everyone I've been so bad at keeping in touch with, I think of you guys daily I'm just not really online much and having a tough time balancing my schedule with my pregnancy (which is getting pretty far along!)

Somehow I got slammed with work... the money is of course most welcome, but I am finding it hard to pace myself like I know I need too... and every time I push it, I end up feeling rotten.  My body's way of making me take a break if I've not been, I guess haha.  Nothing serious, I just get REALLY tired and sick to my tummy and headachey.  Ya know, kinda like a hangover hahaha.  I worked 11 hours yesterday on top of dealing with Emma (she has an owie) and a bank fiasco... and last night I just felt like cwap. LOL  This morning is a little better... but my breakfast made me sick (booo, I LOVE breakfast) and I think I may sneak back to bed for a bit before starting work.

Good news of the day is I don't have to work offsite so I can stay in my PJs and nap when I need to.  That makes things much more manageable.

I have some fun news to write about, my baby shower and a new (used) car being two of them.  For the moment I'm going to put my yucky feeling self back to bed and maybe start the day again in an hour or so hahaha.

Thanks everyone for your support and patience right now, I appriciate it more than you know!!! (even if I am rotten and returning emails & calls these days)

SERENITY KICKS BUTT!!!!

Heheheh, had to get that out there right away.  I found a great review that is spot on.... check it out: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/10/01/110326.php

I'm sooo curious to see how the movie does this weekend.  The 7:30 show we went to last night (opening day) was sold out!  Here in Santa Cruz! Woo!  I was stressin hard because we went for a nice relaxing dinner and when we went to get in line like 45 min early, the line was halfway down the block. Eek!  But, thank GAWD they put it in a big theatre and we got decent seats all together (despite my whining and predictions we'd be seperated with lousy seats hahah)  It was a great audience... all total fans, you could tell.  There was in impromptu singing of the Jayne song, inspired by a cheer of "to the mudders!" "to Jayne!!" Which was a riot hahah.  The theatre was buzzing with excitement and we were a bit worried that we'd have people talking in the movie... but once it started, except for approriate cheering and clapping (which I love in a good movie haha) the audience was dead silent.  I think I was literally the only one who got up and left for a bit in the middle (pregnant lady pee break )  The audiuence was riveted.

And all our highest expectations were met and passed... this movie was a GREAT movie.  I don't know how non-firefly fans will feel about it... but for those who have fallen in love with ALL of Joss's characters... this movie was a homecoming, a reunion, just magical...  There was something so satisfying about seeing all of the characters in all their glory going through their biggest adventure.  There are some REALLY tough/sad parts... and one that actually made me cry... like, rip your heart out cry.  And I didn't cry at EPIII... this was purely tied to how much Joss gets you to identify with and LOVE his characters,  they are real, they are accessible... they are people you would want on your own crew (if you had one hahaha) and when things happen to them, it just hits you on a whole 'nuther level.

The dialog was, of course, brilliant and witty and real.  The effects were spot on.  The story is compelling... just take everything I love about the series and magnify it!  A few things were "missing" one of which is the western tint... since it takes place mostly around the core and then in Reaver territory, there are no realy grungy western scenes.  It's more of a pure scifi type flic... albeit with the dirt and grime and imperfections that make this world brilliant where things like Star Trek (to me) fail completely.

I was also bummed to see Kalee (Jewel Staite) had lost weight.  Part of her appeal as a character to me, part of what made her real... was that she wasn't super thin.  She had the best round cheeks and just a different glow about her when she was at "real person" weight.  The thinner Kalee looks a bit too elegant and stereotypically pretty to me... she looks like a female actress... rather than the Kaylee who LOVES food and lives life to the fullest, who is beautiful because she IS a beautiful person, not because she works at it.

By contrast, Inaura is significantly less "glamourous" than in the series.  Less makeup, less soft lighting... though, that could be explained by the seriousness of the situation they all find themselves in.

The one thing I was missing the most??  The dang theme song.  I would have LOVED to hear at least the accoustic (no vocal) version over the credits... or if nothing else played while we were waiting for it to start.  I think, in the credits, people would have gone NUTS hahha. At least this opening day crowd hehehe.

So get out and go see this movie this weekend!!! The word circulating is that if it pulls $80M this weekend, they are guaranteed a sequel.  So, come on folks... get out there and SEE it!!!!  I might have to hit up a matinee Sunday

I almost forgot!  Dale was nice enough to send this to me when I asked (since I need to retreive my CD from Kat LOL)... Here is our lil "LA Fellowship" group at FIDM:

Not much to report in the way of new goings on round here.  Been a quiet week of catching up on things that I've procrastinated (which was much needed)  The big event of the week is Serenity opening!!! Woooooooooo!!  Dad, Jack, and I are going 7:30 opening day   We've been watching Firefly episodes off and on gettin all excited for the movie hahaha.  I wish I had the stamina to make the midnight showing up in SF, but alas *dramatic sigh*  (ok who am I kidding, I never really have the stamina for midnight showings hahahah)

Finally listed the Yellowstone for sale on the MandolinCafe.  Will be sad to see 'er go, but good to get her into a new home where she'll be played and also good to pay back my savings what I owe it hahaha.  Been playing my new baby a bit and just very much in love with it!  Not playing as much as I'd like, but still sneaking it in there and thorougly enjoying it when I do!!

As one of my favorite tricks... I shall once again attempt to make up for a lack of entries with a slew of photos hehehe.  Here's what's been going on round here these days!!

Jack's 32nd Birthday was on the 13th We had a weekend before get together with some friends, and then the day of I made a lil dinner, invited R, B & kiddos (and pops) and got Jack his very favorite "Princess Cake" from Gayles!  I've been feelin a bit worn down so we didn't do a BIG party, but it was fun and made the day special for my hunny (least I hope hahaha)

Everyone look happy!!!!

Come on, birthday boy... SMILE!!! hahaha

A birthday wish upon a Princess Cake!

Last weekend was my trip to LA with my SW fan club (yes I AM a SW geek through and through!) we had a GREAT time.  I uploaded all of my pics to my .mac site if anyone would like to see more:  SFFF Visits Dressing a Galaxy

The only bummer is that, being my pics, I'm not in them hahaha.  But I know a bunch were taken, including a group shot, so I'll track those down and post some (and then you can all see my round pregnant self!! hahah)

The Main Attraction!

Oodles of Padmes!

The "Cover Girl" for the book

Some of my favorites...

And my favorite shot from Disneyland

The whole trip was really fun, I am very lucky to a have a great goup of folks in our Fan Force, it really made the whole experience!  The exhibit was amazing... seeing all of that detail work on costumes that get minutes or less of screen time was just mind blowing.  Disney was a fun day with the gang, though somewhat less fun for being  a pregnant lady unable to go on the cool rides *dramatic sigh* LOL but I enjoyed myself anyhow and the whole trip was quite a success.

And, back at home, it's good to close with a parting shot of the kids (who were VERY happy to have mama back home!)
